Hi Merri; I'm sorry but something has changed and I will not be available for the Saturday's meeting.

My only input was the following.....

1. Hopefully APICS was sending out a e-mail early and reminding everyone of the increase and to submit their membership early.
2. APICS has a grace period for mailing in their membership?
3. Our chapter was planning to send out their own e-mail to remind members (Thru April and possible May) to send in their membership early
to avoid the membership increase this year.

If I remember correctly from the last two increases that we only got one call due to the membership increase. I guess the increase was small enough not to cause much complaining but was only concerned from our chapter leaders and we all had something to say in those increases. This increase was implemented without any inputs from the chapters and passed so quickly that most of the chapters I talked to (Both in our District and a few other Districts) stated that "we need to just adjust our plans for an decrease in membership!".

Conference Call-in Number

The conference call to discuss our positioning of the dues increase is Saturday 2/9 at 9:00a.m. Pacific Time. The call in number is 888-830-3914 - when prompted, the meeting number is 662 684 4452#.

ROI metrics

After reading and re-reading the documents that Abe provided, I think there is plenty of amunition in a couple of areas to prepare ourselves as chapter leaders for the inevitable concerns voiced regarding the dues increase. He clearly states the reasons 'Why do people join APICS" and the initiatives that will be supported by the dues increase.



I would like to see us put our heads together to add to the ROI list. John Newlyn gives a good one:

• " if you send an employee to APICS and, as a result, they reduce your firm’s average inventory by $10,000—assuming a 20 percent carrying cost, you’ve saved $2,000 during the first year of their membership. Spending $200 on dues to save $2,000: What a great investment.”

Here's another one:

• If you send and employee to APICS and, as a result, you increase your inventory accuracy by just 1%, you save $1000 for every $100,000 of inventory value - ANNUALLY!!!

Notification to General Membership

Per Mel - the general membership will be notified of the dues increase on February 12th in the APICS Connection.

Leader Readiness - Regarding Dues Increase

We as Chapter and District Leaders need to be ready to respond to the coming dues increase. We agreed in the 1/26/08 District meeting to do the following:

1. read the documents emailed to us from Abe on 1/25
2. use this forum to add our suggestions, thoughts, and comments for ADDITIONAL VALUE PROPOSITION STATEMENTS and ROI TOOLS.
3. meet via telecon on 2/9 to discuss - you will receive a telecon invitation prior to the meeting.
